september spots
a lil wine + dine in the district
El Secreto De Rosita The cocktails were pretty and tasty but I was unimpressed by the food. The seco was tender but the lomo saltado was tough and could benefit from more seasoning. The teriyaki chicken was basic. I was really looking forward to a new Peruvian restaurant…bummer
Residents Cafe + Bar This place is all about a tropical chic vibe. The service was great. The grilled octopus was chef’s kiss. The qcumber cocktail was oh so refreshing.
Nara-Ya Swanky Japanese restaurant with water views - I went for a friend’s birthday dinner but would be a nice date night spot. Also, a plus is that it is all about environmental responsibility.
Donahue Sexy champagne lounge with an incredible menu - speakeasy feels. Dress to impress.
Zebbie’s Garden I swore I was done with Dupont nightlight but had to go for their soft opening. The aesthetics were all there but had an interesting crowd (and by interesting I mean some of the men in there could have been my grandpa). Sooo now I’m done.
Never Looked Better Underground bar in Blagden Alley filled with neon lights and college kids which is not my scene - nonetheless, still had a great time with the gals.
Casta’s Rum Bar I’ve only gone for the dancing as the menu isn’t appealing to me. However, the music is fire - a mix of latin and house. It is worth mentioning that it gets really sweaty but you’ll be too busy going crazy to Pepas to care.
Next up ILILI, Imperfecto, and Dauphine’s
