Winning The War In Your Mind If you are Christian and have been wrestling with your thoughts (more than usual) this one is for you.
Invent & Wander While I was excited for an insider view on Bezoz’s success, it was not insightful…like… at all.
The Prophet A collection of poetic essays, divided into twenty-eight chapters. Each chapter covers life topics such as marriage, prayer, laws, pain, children, time, love, pleasure, eating, passion, etc. It is filled with wisdom and beautifully written. Two of my favorite quotes are, “Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield, upon which your reason and your judgment wage war against your passion and your appetite” and “Say not, ‘I have found the truth’, but rather ‘I have found a truth’. Say not, ‘I have found the path of the soul’. Say rather, ‘I have met the soul walking upon my path’. For the soul walks on all paths. The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed. The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals”.
The Subtle of Art Of Not Giving a F*CK Major disappointment. Pretentious tone. Filled with generalizations and lacking any real substance. Don’t waste your time.
Green Lights Alright, alright, alright…I enjoyed his memoir - there was a nice balance in his writing where it felt raw but light-hearted. PS: There is an Audible version and who doesn’t want Matthew McConaughey reading to you ;)
The Maidens I was really excited for this one since Michaelides killed it in Silent Patient but this was far from an entertaining thriller. It was all over the place and just felt contrived. Skip!
Silent Victim A psychological thriller with three narrators that go back and forth from 2002, 2013, and 2017. Intriguing plot with twists and turns but I wouldn’t say it was one I couldn’t put down. In other words, good not great.
